Review of Rush (2013) by Andrew Y — 19 May 2014

Enjoyed Rush overall. First half probably give it a 3/5 but it improved so give it a 4/5.

I knew about the rivalry between Hunt and Lauda - just about the rivalry but not much in detail to be honest. Also knew about the crash/fire too. Didn't know how that season all ended so that was not spoiled. Not that it would have ruined the movie.chr.

Lauda and Hunt are not instantly likeable characters/people. Either unpleasant or insensitive. You do admire them.

I thought it was filmed really well. Good acting. Watching it, it hits you how the F1 world was completely different then. Its so much safer now. You wouldn't even dream of having a drink of champagne before getting into a race car or being a photographer and lying on the ground right next to the track taking photos. Thats before talking about how the actual driving was so dangerous and how on average 2 drivers each season unfortunately die. Also, changing tyres now takes as little as 2.5 seconds - record is actually 2.05 seconds - back in the 70s it took a lot longer. Its just amazing how quick it is nowadays.
