Review of Rush (2013) by Mike P — 11 Feb 2014
The best rivalry film I have seen. I thought this movie would be just like Days of Thunder, but it was a completely different movie. Basically, we see how two completely different people motivate each other and bring out the best in their rival.
There are no corny "let's be friends" scenes. Instead, Ron Howard directs this movie to drive home the severity of the lives that race car drivers lead. The film shows pure grit and reminds us that this great sport is also so much more.
Hemsworth delivers another great role and should be taken more seriously. The "rush" of adrenaline that the viewer gets from the driver seat in this movie is what sets it apart from other racing films- you almost feel the impending doom as the racers start their engines.
