Review of Rush (2013) by Michael G — 08 Jul 2014
I was bored. The performances couldn't overcome the lack of nuance in the stilted script. Perfect example of childish direction: when the wet track is "scary" cut to a shot of a big spider.
Seriously? And the moments you want to see, the crashes, are from aerial views or happen so quickly if you blink you miss them and there's just a big fireball filling the screen that could be an outtake from the opening to Apocalypse Now.
You never CARE about any of the characters, there are no human moments of understanding or contemplation or connection. It was too broad, too jerky, too insipid.
