Review of Rush (2013) by Charles G — 11 Mar 2015
Hemsworth does a pretty good job of portraying Hunt, though his accent is a scandal. It is a shame that they skirted over what actually happened at the 1976 British GP, following the classic film pursuit of evading the truth.
In this instance the film, and importantly the story, are the poorer for it as the events at Brand's Hatch could have added even more to the audience's understanding of the rivalry. Much of the folklore of Hunt is hard to substantiate and it is always difficult to portray a character with such a vivid history, both on and off the track, but Hemsworth does well.
Brühl's portrayal of Lauda is absolutely phenomenal. He captures the methodical 'computer' character perfectly. A really, really good film with a very good soundtrack to support it. Highly recommend.
