Review of Runaway Train (1985) by Richard R — 26 Aug 2013
I will be honest, I do like some films from the eighties because they're witty or funny or adventurous. I found nothing to like about this film and really don't get the hype. First of all, it takes a long while for them to even get onto the train and and it takes even longer for the only likeable character to appear.
Throughout the movie is plagued by constant drivel called dialogue in which Jon Voight and Eric Roberts take turns to whinge or say something that's supposed to be deep and insightful in such awful voices, thick accents and high speed that you find yourself not listening.
It does earn a star for the plot (although the solution screams out throughout the whole film) but everything else is distinctly uninteresting.
