Review of Runaway Jury (2003) by Aaron C — 07 Sep 2009
A solid thriller that lacks the oomph to be a 5 star film. The star power is there, the direction is there, the plot is there. It's only crime? The Hackman/Hoffman scene. When these two actors meet onscreen they give it their all.
Screw the climax, that scene was the highest emotinal point in the film. The tension between the two characters was just unbearable and I saw what was at this team's core. This scene was the epitome of their potential.
The featurette I watched after detailed the ammount of preparation that went into the scene and boy did it pay off. Then I realized that the whole film could have been like that. Oh well. Still a hell of a movie.
