Review of Run Lola Run (1998) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
Let me just start by saying "DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE." I know it's called Run Lola Run, and I should have seen this coming, but I was tired of seeing a close-up of Potente's face while running within the first 5 minutes of the movie.
One thing that I actually did like about the movie was that it was based around the idea that the smallest most seemingly insignificant occurrences can change lives. However, even this was tainted by the pointless and unexplained supernatural side of the film that had Lola remembering all of the things that supposedly happened in parallel universes or something (which is contradictory in itself because parallel universes are PARALLEL).
The acting was fairly decent for the most part however and if the story had called for people to act like real people it would have been even better. Finally, I'll just quickly touch on the "special" effects.
This movie needed almost no special effects and the kindergarten-matrix effects only took away from the movie- and don't even get me started on the cartoons. Not a good movie. Not the worst movie I've ever seen but not a good one.
