Review of Run Lola Run (1998) by Bill S — 17 May 2015
A gem of a twist on the 'repeating day' concept, driven by a trance soundtrack that drums its way into your brain and fueled by a smoldering performance from Franka Potente. Paced with music and a rising sense of urgency to make things right, Lola is faced with (literally) three attempts to save her boyfriend, each of which with hurdles, never quite the same each time.
Failure, rage and elation are twisted together tighter and tighter with the ticking of the clock until the finale. Unique and stylish, the haunting electronic backbeat stays with you long after the story is done.
