Review of Rumble Fish (1983) by Pierluigi P — 13 Feb 2008
It's got a dreamlike quality to it that I just love. Coppola adds many elements like the smoky alleys, fast-moving clouds, and strange, sometimes nonsense dialogue to build this surreal, fantastical sort of environment for his equally bizarre characters to roam in.
Mickey Rourke is a definite highlight as a highly intelligent but mentally detached street gang legend, seemingly unconcerned with his own existence. Tom Waits, as usual, steals every scene he's in.
