Review of Rumble Fish (1983) by Timmy R — 04 Nov 2008
There's a major difference between Rumble Fish and films by directors like Gus Van Sant and Jim Jarmusch. The difference is Authenticity. Much like the character of Rusty James, Coppola wants this film to be something it isn't.
Matt Dillon was not a strong enough actor to hold this film together. There is something to be said about the ambition of the project, but as far as the final product goes... stylish photography is all you get.
