Review of Rumble Fish (1983) by Ian G — 30 Aug 2010
Wow what an outstading little gem from master filmaker Francis Coppola.#.
Based on the book by SE Hinton this followed the Outsiders but is toatlly diffrent from that film in every respect.
The cast are all excellent with Mickey Rourke showing here that before his fall and rise again that he was a magnetic screen presence.
Kudos too the Dennis Hooper as the leads deadbeat dad and Matt Dillion as the brother who idolizes his older brother.
The whole feel of the film feels very european and Stephen H Burum adds a beautiful Black and White sheen to everything.
A film which showed Coppola could do small scale as welll as grrad vistas I enjoyed evry minute of this film.
