Review of Rumble Fish (1983) by Jonathan P — 17 Aug 2011
Stunning visuals and camera work yet the lack of a clear narrative just didn't allow me to enjoy this film. I have never been a fan of expressionism or surrealism in film and this just confirmed my disliking for that style of direction.
Though Rourke gave a good performance he felt miscast and not nearly as tough as the legend of the Biker Boy was made to be. Dillon does well with his lunkhead role and it is fun to watch a pre-famous Cage acting like Cage.
But other than some fine performances Rumble Fish just left me bored and ready for it to be over half way through.
