Review of Ruby Sparks (2012) by Andrew L — 10 Nov 2012
This was a very good movie. The story invites the viewer on a journey by examining a situation that isn't possible in real life but it gives the sense of "what if." What if someone could create someone on paper and have them become reality? There are many different interpretations one could take from this movie and that is where the beauty of the story comes from.
The story is breathtaking, happy, and tragic. There is a perfect blend of quirky and serious tones throughout in the dialogue, as well as the cinematography. The acting was done very well. Paul Dano was brilliant as the main character.
Zoe Kazan was the perfect fit as the title character, not because she wrote the movie but because she portrayed that innocence, or perfectness that was needed to ultimately make everything come together.
Definitely worth the rent.
