Review of Rubber (2010) by Konstantine S — 02 Jan 2012
Another nihilistic meta-film from the French, who are lately so deranged in their cinematic output (ENTER THE VOID, DRIVE, etc) you'd think they lost WWII. Its wanton pointlessness could have been more entertaining, if not for its constant & heavy-handed attempts to justify itself as pop-existentialism.
In short: What could have been a great 20-minute college thesis runs 60 minutes too long. Still, it looks cool (and the French still cast & shoot pretty girls as well as anyone).
