Review of Rubber (1936) by Filmgrinder S — 15 Dec 2011
The oddest consept for a film I have ever come across... I can't decide wether it's so bad it's good, or if it's just plainly disturbing.
I mean, the concept is genuinely amazing that something so ordinary could join to form a formidable army as an enemy to humans... something we created; killing us. And whatever effects they used.. are amazingly used. To make a tyre look as if it's moving and make people feel that it's actually alive.
The real let down is just the plain randomness - It had great confusing potential in this randomness, but in this film, it unfortunately becomes a bore.
Great potential, but essentially, boring... yet even though I felt in a wave of boredom; I also felt strangely compelled to watch it through...
