Review of Rubber (1936) by Lauren S — 30 Dec 2011
While this film was good, it wasn't at the level I was hoping it would be. The story of a tire that goes on a killing spree is perfectly wonderful all on it's own, and it's what I was expecting out of the film.
However, the film makers added this whole breaking the fourth wall, introspective subplot about an audience out in the desert watching the film as it unfolds. This worked well in the beginning, and it was a nice setup to the story, but they really didn't need to keep going back to it.
Alex and I both agreed that this film probably would have worked better as a short, as there was a lot of footage that they could have cut. There were a number of funny moments, and I would recommend it just for the premise alone, but it wasn't as funny as I was hoping it would be.
