Review of Rosewood (1997) by Rosa B — 27 Jul 2010
Rosewood is based on the true story of a black town that is basically destroyed because of one white womanâ??s lie. I know it is based on an actual event, but I am not sure how much of what is seen on the screen is accurate, but the racism side of it I have no doubt is. Saying that, the film itself looks good, the acting works well and it has a decent pace. It is a really hard movie to watch in parts, but it needed to be told and I think John Singleton did a good job.
On a side note, I watched this on a DVD that I took from the library, and I noticed that it was on a double sided disc (on another side note within this side note, whoever thought of double sided DVD's should be dragged out in the street and shot.), but I didn't think much about it, but for some reason the movie stopped half way through, and for a second I was ticked off, cause I wanted to see the end, but I tried flipping the DVD and low and behold, the rest of the movie was on the other side, there was no menu, it just started up where it finished on the other side. I have never seen this before, so I just thought it would mention it. Not that anyone is still reading this review; it is more just for my piece of mind that I had to get that out there. Ahh, thatâ??s better.
