Review of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1991) by Moayad N — 04 Jun 2007
Tom Stoppard accomplished an unbelievably uniqe movie based on his original play.. the main two characters of the movie are maybe the shallowest ones in Shakesperian's "Hamlet". nevertheless, is was very inetersting and smart to rewrite and utilize the great play to demonstrate ordinary people attitudes, reactions and point of views.
. away from kings and prices and tragic heros. I was really speachless when I saw the interrelation between shakespear's hamlet and Beckett's "waiting for Godot".. how smart and effective.
and above all, how sad but true to expose the absured nature of life through the eyes of "NO-ONES" as mentioned in the movie describing the leading characters. finally, casting Gary Oldman, Tim Roth was a bless for the work and us :).
