Review of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1991) by James S — 21 Jan 2008
If nothing else this film proves why the play was called Hamlet and not Rosencrantz & Guildenstern, and thats because this movie is so bloody dull!
It's played for laughs granted but most of the jokes sound like they'd be more at home on The Two Ronnies, Oldman seems to be doing his drunk soldier routine that he did so much better in Friends and him and Roth come off as a much less funny version of Ade Edmundson and Rick Mayall in Bottom.
Dreadful.
