Review of Rope (1948) by Michael Y — 15 Apr 2010
I have to honestly say that this movie is very very good. Hitchcock really knows how to make everything very suspenseful for the audience. Even the use of the camera movement helped make the movie more epic, cannot explain how it does it just makes the movie more realistic.
The Actors in the movie although over act did a good job as well even at the end of the movie when Rupert learns that Brandon and Phillip were the killers to prove a point about the smart allowed to do as pleased and people not as smart cannot and tried to prove this by committing the perfect crime.
In any case the movie does a good job of parodying Leopold and Loeb who back in 1924 tried to commit the perfect crime as well but caught at the end. This movie really shows how some people could think they are better then everyone else and then try to prove it.
4.5/5.
