Review of Rope (1948) by Elizabeth N — 06 Jan 2013
One of the most innovative films of its time, Rope introduces a number of filmmaking experiments that still remains widely unexplored in the cinema world. It is a captivating tale of two men murdering one of their acquaintances & then having a party to determine the perfection of their crime.
Filmed in a way that it looks like being shot in a single take, one of the biggest strength of this film is how well it engages the viewers in its plot in spite of everyone being aware of how the movie will end.
Masterfully directed & creatively crafted by Alfred Hitchcock, superbly edited, brilliantly scripted & nicely performed by its commendable cast & introducing a new method of shooting a film, Rope is another astonishing achievement in an already extraordinary career of Alfred Hitchcock.
