Review of Rope (1948) by Megan O — 12 Jul 2010
Oh, what fun! Rope is, not surprisingly, another Hitchcock masterpiece. Although Vertigo is still my favorite film of his, I'd have to say Rope might be the most fun (of those that I've seen so far, of course).
It's sick, twisted, darkly humorous, suspenseful, and not to mention technically impressive. Filming the whole thing with only 10 cuts is quite a feat; and since it's basically presented in real time, it's really able to grab hold of your attention right from the start.
Jimmy Stewart is, of course, amazing. I think I could watch this over and over.
