If analyzed correctly, you will easily see that Hitchcock rarely got so macabre. The tracking shots Hitchcock experimented openly in Rope is a distractor for some. While one side considers it to be a failed experiment, thus considering the plot as a very simplistic excuse for attempting technical camera innovation, the other side sees the exact opposite. It was a plus to the story. This is classic Hitchcock; his best decade outside the US was the 30s, and the best in the US were the 50s. This is in between, and although not seen correctly by masses and most often ignored as the landmark it is, Rope, with minuscule mistakes, is a terrific edge-of-your-seat achievement.

98/100.
