Review of Rope (1948) by Nick D — 31 Dec 2010
Genius. Hitchcock successfully takes his definition/explanation/example of "suspense" about a bomb under a table (look it up if you don't know) and then stretches the idea to the length of a full film.
Amazing writing, great acting (a role perfect for Jimmy Stewart) all result in a very successful experiment that makes for a great film. One of the unique cases where people who are interested in how the film was done and people who just want to watch a good story both find something amazing in one film.
