Review of Room (2015) by Daniel L — 03 Jul 2016
Well I saw this movie a few months ago so I'm trying to remember what exactly I didn't like about it, but basically for sure it is a snore fest after they get out of Room. A total dragged out bore after that point.
The first half of the film was pretty entertaining. Yes, the roles were well acted, I have to give it that. I know it's based on a book, but I would have liked it a lot more had at least 3/4s of the movie been about them in the Room or trying to escape.
Actually, now I remember that I had a hard time believing the escape that took place...like c'mon, you don't think a crazy psycho kidnapper would take an extra 1 minute to examine the kid and make sure he is indeed dead before risking his whole carefully executed kidnapping plan by simply throwing his 'body' in the back of the truck? Rookie, rookie kidnapper mistake lol, that I have a hard time believing would actually happen.
Anyway, not a bad film at all, but get ready for a snore fest after they escape. Definitely NOT an Oscar worthy film for best picture so I'm glad it didn't win, and honestly Brie Larsons performance was good for sure, but Oscar worthy? Meh.
