Review of Room (2015) by Justine S — 25 Apr 2016
This adaptation really brought the book to life for me. It was well casted, well acted, thoughtful, provoking, innocent, beautiful, and fresh. They didn't try to make it overly horrific, it was all about hope and rebuilding yourself, not letting them be defined by what happened to them.
I expected them to focus a lot more on how hard it was for Joy to readjust to her life and the world. But we spent a lot of time with Jack, and it made the movie so much more joyful. It was so nice to see a movie that didn't stress on the gory stuff to get attention.
It was tasteful and something you can watch with your family.
