Review of Room (2015) by Jake A — 30 Jan 2017
At the time of this review, this movie is ranked No. 133 of all-time on imbd. Not bad given the scope of the movie.
Brie Larson is a talented young actress. She kinda came from nowhere and started showing up in many things. Always solid, and she won an Oscar for this (in my opinion, her best role yet is in Short Term 12).
I watch Dan Patrick daily and he raved about the little boy. For the first part of the movie, I wondered what in the hell DP was talking about. Later, the boy truly does take over and gives great performance.
This is a neat but tragic story. The book is told from the little boy's perspective, and it's hard to imagine living the first five years of your life in a single room the size of a small shed. Kudos to the writer of the novel and everyone who made this movie a success. This is what storytelling is all about.
