Ronin is one of those movies you may have sped by in the late 90's. De Niro by that time was churning out some decent fair, but nothing like in his younger days.

For De Niro, Ronin reminds us that he still had a knack for picking entertaining fair. It seems the older he has got the less picky he has become. For Shame!

The supporting cast of players all adds their own pieces of intrigue as each are after a mysterious case. It's a great premise, one that is easy to understand, and I'm sure a hell of a fun thing to write.

Notably is Jean Reno who I have always liked, playing the same kind of bad ass that brought him recognition from The Professional. I am sad to see him now playing second banana to Steve Martin in the very unfunny Pink Panther redo. For Shame!

The movie is pretty straight forward and not as exciting as Mission Impossible, or as explosive as the Bourne Series. But it does have some great chase scenes that I don't think it gets enough credit for and some very great double crossing that will always leave you guessing who is on whose side.

To be honest it's just nice to see De Niro in a decent action flick. Hell it is nice to see De Niro as anything other than an angry father-in-law. Check it out before you rent anything he has done of late, especially if youâ??re thinking on renting Righteous Kill. For Shame!
