Review of Ronin (1998) by Marcelo T — 22 Mar 2009
This film features a high quality cast and very elaborate car chases and shoot-em-up scenes. It is, however, deliberately pointless in its plot, meaning that they never really explain why any of this is happening.
At one point near the end, they tack on a rather flimsy explanation of what one character was after, but clearly this isn't a movie with a message. The number of people shot, largely innocent by-standers, is huge - many dozens if not hundreds, and there isn't a whiff of consequence to any of this.
It was OK if you don't think about it much.
