Review of Romulus, My Father (2007) by Peter M — 18 Jul 2007
The great cinematography of the Australian Outback really brought the reality of the harsh living conditions the characters of this movie had to endure to life. The acting was also commendable given the minimal amount of dialogue.
One key thing was wrong with it though: the story wasn't really about Romulus at all. The director also hasn't really done a good job of making the film stand alone without the book. Viewers who haven't read it won't have the background that the film seems to assume and may find many of the scenes confusing.
The Hollywood ending is also a bit of a let down. Having said all that, did I mention that the cinematography was good?
