Review of Romper Stomper (1992) by Ryan G — 14 Apr 2013
Took me 20 years but I finally got there! :) Despite an impressive performance from a teenage, boyish Russell Crowe, Romper Stomper lacks the depth and investigation of issues, that a Clockwork Orange and American History X deftly explored, using the explotative violence as a medium for investigation.
Despite its roots in the reality of Melbourne Nazi Skinhead Dane Sweetman, or perhaps because of it, the depth of understanding of humanity does not scratch the surface beyond the actions of a psychotic group of terrified teenagers.
