Review of Romeo Must Die (2000) by Dylan C — 05 Jun 2010
Walking into this film, I was expecting an urban Romeo&Juliet story but Romeo Must Die really has very little similarities to Romeo&Juliet. Both stories are about two lovers who are members of rival gangs, but the similarities stop there.
Romeo Must Die is one things going for it, and that's its fight scenes, which are well done and at times, exciting. Other than that, the acting is rather shallow and the story is predictable. I love Jet Li and martial arts films, but if that's what you're looking for, there are better films of his out there.
Black Mask and Kiss Of The Dragon come to my mind. This film might be worth a rent so you can enjoy it with some friends but other than that there's no reason to go out of your way to watch it.
