Review of Romeo and Juliet (1978) by Annelies S — 19 Aug 2009
I watched this play another time.Since I'm not a native English speaker and never studied English literature this DVD is never easy to follow for me, even when the English subtitles are on.
Anyway I watched it for the fifth time now and I must admit it looked much better than the first time. There's superb acting performances from actors deceased a long time ago and still living actors like Alan Rickman & Anthony Andrews among others. Patrick Ryecart & Rebecca Saire make the biggest impression on me as Romeo & Juliet and I wonder why I haven't heard from them in later productions? It seems from the young cast only Alan Rickman succeeded in a successful career. But then again I'm not a regular theatregoer..
This BBC TV-play is certainly worth watching!
