Review of Romancing the Stone (1984) by Michael P — 23 Mar 2008
One of my all-time favorites. No matter how many times I see it, it makes me laugh and the action sucks me in. The comedy, adventure, and romance are all perfectly balanced. Kathleen Turner is the sultriest "mousy novelist" I've ever seen.
If I were Catherine Zeta Jones, I would marry the Michael Douglas of this movie too. The only two negatives related to this movie: 1) recent versions don't translate the Spanish language bits, which had some of the funniest lines, and 2) the sequel was a huge letdown.
