Review of Romancing the Stone (1984) by Jim W — 02 Apr 2009
Kathleen Turner stars as an adventure/romance writer who finds herself on an adventure of her own. Her sister is kidnapped and she goes off to Columbia to find her.
Along for the ride is an adventurer (Michael Douglas) who's a lot like the hero from her novels. Together they try to find a valuable gem while facing the villains kidnapped her sister.
The movie is smart and funny and probably the best adventure movie of the 80's next to Raiders of the Lost Ark. While Douglas and Turner have excellent chemistry. The sequel Jewel of the Nile isn't bad either but no where as good.
