Review of Romance & Cigarettes (2005) by Stig S — 29 Jul 2009
A miss, not bad but a miss. A challenging movie that doesn't really delivers. Irony, rough one-liners and dialogues, a musical, a comedy and a drama. All bottled into a quite simplistic plot (not the point that I'm really critical about, just saying that the story is one of a thousand times seen kind).
It is a bit too much, although musical moments (with are not my taste) are quite charming and funny, and Sarandon (fantastic moment when she sings like Janis Joplin) and Gandolfini are great in their performances.
