Review of Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired (2008) by Dodd A — 29 Jan 2009
An enthralling and captivating piece of work. It certainly doesn't gloss over Polanski's crime - far from it. It's presented via stark snippets of testimony - both his and his victim's. And she is given ample screen time, in which she comes across with a quiet dignity.
But at the same time Polanski is definitely a charismatic and engaging character. Clips of multiple interviews reveal him to be charming, arrogant, mischievous and most certainly highly talented.
The lawyers are astonishing in their candour, honesty and dignity - in stark contrast to some elements of the press and most shockingly the presiding judge.
