Review of Roman Holiday (1953) by Cristina H — 09 Jul 2009
I rarely give out 5 stars. But this movie was flawless. Audrey Hepburn is every inch the princess that just wants one day off from her duties. Gregory Peck is very charismatic as a reporter that gets more than he bargains for when he begrudgingly helps out a "drunk" girl.
His journey from someone just looking to make some money to someone who genuinely cares about the girl is sweet and touching. Having been to Rome a few times, it was endearing to see this young woman experience it for the first time.
It stirred all sorts of warm feeling within me...I felt like I was experiencing all those wonderful things for the first time again as well. One of the few movies where I honestly believed the characters were exactly who they were, not just actors playing a character.
