Review of Roman Holiday (1953) by Masorad ( — 15 Oct 2009
Trumbo steals the plot from Capra's "It Happened One Night," transfers it to then-travelogue Rome, shortens it to a day and continues hiding from HUAC. Still, the film gives us Hepburn and Peck on a scooter, Eddie Albert with a beard, Wyler throwing his clout around.
A serviceable fairy tale, with a class-conscious slap-in-the-face ending.
