Review of Roma (2018) by Ruy W — 20 Dec 2018
I am afraid I cannot describe my feelings with enough words... An absolutely enthralling chronicle in which we experience some months of the life of a middle-class family's maid in Mexico City in the early 1970s.
Alfonso Cuaron delivers one of his most powerful and personal films, and he succeeds in conveying the entire environment and feelings of the characters with extremely detailed features. This is FOR people who have a taste for slow-paced movies, it could be described as boring and aimless, but the truth is that the introduction and the body of the film are just preparing a concentrated audience for some traumatic and heartbreaking events at the end.
It really shook me to the core. Fantastic cinematography and the breakthrough performance of Yalitza Aparicio. Best of lucks at the awards' season!
