Review of Roma (2018) by Dankilicious — 16 Feb 2019
Roma has all the trappings of a phenomenal piece of cinema. Gorgeous cinematography, emotionally gripping storytelling and great acting as well. It's also incredibly apparent the Cuarron is at his absolute best here which considering his pedigree is almost unbelievable.
However with all of that being said I did not enjoy the movie that much personally. I found it overall to be a very lonely and boring movie that just overall didn't have a lot of interesting things going on up until the last hour or so of the film.
I'm almost sure this is somebody's cup of tea if you are a cinema connoisseur but I just found it hard to get through and had to watch it in about three different sessions. I'm quite sure this will be taking all the Oscars this year and I do think it's deserving of it because after walking away from it I found my still having an enormous amount of respect for it at the very least.
Which is why despite my personal feelings about the movie I would be lying to not at least give it a solid 8/10.
