Review of Roma (2018) by Eddi H — 17 Dec 2018
Roma is a feast for your eyes. I cannot get over how gorgeous this black and white film is. Connoisseurs of classic monochromatic photographic techniques by such photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Ansel Adams, or Edward Steichen will find this masterpiece a particular revelation.
Anyone whose view of the world has been framed by the limited space pixelization of an Iphone, or what is considered state of the art in a 4000k UHD televsion need to find as large a screen as possible to view a print of this film It will knock your socks off.
The opening images of water washing tiles reflecting a jet flying overhead, field of hay with volcanoes in the background, crashing waves and gulf palms off a Veracruz beach, and watching the breakout animal star of this movie, Borras the manic Rottweiler leave yet more of his "souvenirs" is a photographic masterpiece.
You will be mesmerized. I want to see more of Mexican creativity now.
