Review of Rollerball (2002) by Nick S — 07 Jun 2007

I'll tell you right off the bat that I am biased towards this movie - My dad took us to the theater to see this when we were kids and we loved it - To be honest I don't know why we liked it then.

..for a kid it is almost too grown up...but the game scenes are awesome and probably kept us glued - Seeing it now I have to say it is kind of slow and has a brainwashed monotone feel to it...it also clocks in at a short 2:30.

..yikes - When watching today it didn't seem like I was sitting through 2:30 of movie though - The feel matched the setting of the future and how Corporations are running the world...big brother type stuff - I keep telling you I like 70's filmmaking for its rawness and grit and the look here is 70's but they did a great job of making it look and feel like the future.

..it was a cleaner look with almost no grit...nice touch - Some may see this and say boring but for me it still strikes that chord.
