Review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) by Philip N — 29 Jan 2017
The trailers sold us a much more interesting and darker star wars story movie than we actually got in the end. I really appreciate the matching up of old with new and the fact Darth Vader gets to play himself, but I get the feeling his addition was added as the marketing peeps thought no-one is going to want to watch a star wars movie without lightsabres.
However, let's be honest if Disney made a film. about a Star Wars bag blowing in the wind people will still go an see it and the film would prob still breakdown. It's sad that what we thought we were getting ended up being a safer option with little nods to the past.
Don't be expecting huge things, as a standalone film it is good, but as part of a saga not saga it is marginally better than the prequels. Thanks goes to K2-SO priceless gags galore.
