After getting through all the other croc films that have come before, I had mixed feelings about how this one would turn out. Part of me hoped that this would be the one to break the trend of others of its kind, while the other half guessed that it would be no better than the rubbish before it.

After finally getting round to see it, it turns out I shouldn't have worried. Rogue easily stands out from other creature horror films, tearing the competition apart limb from limb! Although not all of the cast will be instantly recognisable (expectg for Sam Worthington from Terminator Salvation), their performances in this film are definitely better than in other films like Primeval Kill.

And with a director like Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) at the helm, you can be sure that this film was in good hands from beginning to end. The main star itself, a bloodthirsty saltwater crocodile, as also been handled extremely well compared to other CGI crocs in the past.

The beast looks - and sounds - very real indeed, and is slowly revealed throughout the course of the film, à la Jaws. It is also one of the few creature horror films that has managed to keep me on the edge of my seat (or should that be, the edge of my bed).

I'm actually surprised that this never got released in cinemas in the UK! If you're a fan of creature films who's looking for one that is actually good, go ahead and dive in - you should feel right at home with this beastie!
