Review of Rodan (1956) by Chad H — 03 Aug 2013
Rodan is a neat giant monster movie produced by Toho. This was made during Toho's experimenting stage with other flicks after just finishing the second "Godzilla" movie. The idea of Rodan is familiar, a giant pterodactyl is awoken from its prehistoric slumber underground by a group of miners.
It then sets free and wreaks havoc upon the city. As most giant monster movies the plot starts off slow and is mixed with bits of dialogue and glimpses of the monster thrown in here and there. Other than that its pretty much your standard monster movie.
It moves at a decent pace, and is incredibly brief being just slightly over an hour. I rather enjoyed this one but what ultimately made me enjoy it was the ending. I wont spoiler it for anyone else, but it was interesting to say the least.
Other than that there really isn't much more to say. If you can sit through average monster movies than you'll definitely enjoy this one, worth a watch. So check it out.
