Review of Rocky III (1982) by Ali S — 20 Jun 2011
I really really really liked Rocky and Rocky II. The fighting is fun to watch. It gets out the aggression. But what I really appreciated about those two films was the love story. To me, that's what was at the heart of the films. And not just Adrienne and Rocky but the other relationships that develop too. That seems non-existant in Rocky III. Adrienne is all but thrown out the window. They try to work on something between Rocky and his son that seems half-hearted at best.
So why have a Rocky III at all? It seems unnecessary and if anything harmful to the series. Well...I'll tell you why. Mr. T! It's hard to deny how much fun it is to watch this guy do...well...basically anything. I think that watching him brush his teeth would be amusing. So that bit is fun. And Hulk Hogan too.
Here's holding out hope for Rocky IV.
