Review of Rocky III (1982) by Johnathon W — 26 Nov 2018
Entertaining entry in the Rocky franchise that cemented the hammy aspect the series took, but remains one of it's most entertaining. Stallone remains solid as Rocky, this time playing him as a man on top with still something to prove.
Thankfully, he gets the series first real villain in Clubber Lang (Mr. T in a force of nature performance), who is both intimidating physically and verbally (his "I pity him" is an instant classic).
Behind the camera, Sly writes & directs another fun entry in the franchise, that doesn't really explore anything new but still provides some fun moments (the "Eye of the Tiger" song remains infectious, and a must one anyone's exercise playlist).
Of course, their are tender moments too, notably with Mickey (the always reliable Burgess Meredith). While not the best of the Rocky films, easily one of the most entertaining.
