Review of Rocky III (1982) by Danny O — 14 Mar 2015

Rocky 3 is a fun if uninspired film. It follows the events of Rocky's last fight as he remains heavyweight champion of the world after numerous fights. But when a cartoon character Clubber challenges him, can Rocky win, again? The movie has great pacing and follows the same interesting characters as the last two films.

For the most part, its predictable. But it does bring a surprisingly emotional scene. There is also a clever twist In which Rocky's former nemesis Apollo Creed helps train him. The villain is very memorable and fun, if not that well acted and very hammy.

The script also could have been better. Overall, Rocky 3 isn't anything special, but it sure does entertain for an hour and a half. Rocky III gets 3/5 stars (B-).
