Review of Rocky II (1979) by Shane V — 23 Dec 2009
Going for round two with today's review of "Rocky II".
After Rocky's battle with Apollo Creed for the world heavyweight title and loss, Rocky is rushed to the hospital. With his winnings Rocky marries his sweetheart Adrian and gives her his word he will never fight again. But it seems that Apollo has yet to move on. Affected by the hate mail he receives, he demands a rematch with the financially struggling Rocky. This is one of the best comeback stories I've seen for a long time. Another great performance from both Stallone and Weathers. It was as if it was made immediately after the original three years prior. A fine duplication of the original with enough tweaks to keep Rocky going as a regular Joe, and best of all, the training montage is back with a vengeance. I give Rocky II 8 left hooks out of 10.
